Inter-Collegiate Swimming Competition inaugurated at ICG |
1st September 2006. The Annual Inter College Swimming Competition (Men and Women) of the Rajasthan University was inaugurated today at the International Institute of Informatics and Management swimming pool by the Honourable Vice Chancellor, University of Rajasthan – Dr. N.K.Jain The two-day long competition is being hosted by the International College for Girls and has 17 colleges from all over the state participating with 70 swimmers competing in 34 different categories. The participating sportspersons were administered the oath of sportsmanship by Dr. Jain who addressed the gathering on the occasion. He emphasized the significance of professionalism in education for the enhancement of career opportunities and said that physical development] is as important as mental development. He also stated that education is the one sure path to the Economic, Social and Political Development of the nation. On the occasion Dr. Ashok Gupta, Director, International College for Girls expressed his pride at the fact that I.C.G. was hosting this competition for the third year in a row and assured the gathering that the college would continue it’s strive for excellence in the future, as well. Also present at the Inaugural Ceremony were members of the University Sports Board, Mr. Bhupendra Singh, University Observer, Mr. Rajesh Shukla, Chairman Nominee and Dr. Paramjeet Singh, Secretary of the Board as well as various members of the press and participant teams. The prize distribution and valediction ceremony of the competition will be held on 2nd September from 11 a.m. onwards. Mr. Damodar Sharma IAS and Mr. Kali Charan Saraf MLA have kindly consented to give away the prizes.
