In celebration of 75 years of the National Sample Survey, IIIM hosted ANVESHA 2.0 – a Nationwide Quiz Contest on Official Statistics, in collaboration with the National Statistical Office (FOD), Regional Office, Jaipur), under the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI), Government of India.

Held on 18th July 2025, the event aimed to promote statistical literacy, raise awareness about official statistics, and engage students in understanding the crucial role of data in public policymaking, governance, and research. The competition served as a dynamic platform for students to enhance their knowledge of the Indian economy, government policies, and the functioning of the National Statistical Office (NSO).

The inaugural ceremony witnessed the presence of distinguished dignitaries. Dr. Hansraj Yadav, Deputy Director General, Regional Office, Jaipur, welcomed the participants and highlighted the legacy and significance of the National Sample Survey and the relevance of ANVESHA 2.0. Dr. Hardeep Chopra, Deputy Director General, Zonal Office, Jaipur, emphasized the valuable contributions of MoSPI and encouraged students to leverage official data for impactful academic research. Professor Manju Nair, Principal, IIIM, underlined the importance of such initiatives in empowering the youth with knowledge and fostering critical thinking. The Chief Guest, Shri O.P. Bairwa, Commissioner, College Education, Government of Rajasthan, appreciated the initiative and spoke about the growing relevance of data-driven decision-making, urging students to make extensive use of official statistics in their academic and professional pursuits.

The quiz was conducted in two rounds. The preliminary round saw enthusiastic participation from institutions across India, with the top 10 teams qualifying for the final round. The event provided an excellent opportunity for students from disciplines like StatisticsEconomics, and related fields to showcase their analytical skills and subject knowledge.

The winners of ANVESHA 2.0 were Mr. Harish Kumar and Mr. Sitaram Choudhary from Central University, who secured the first position and received a cash prize of ₹10,000. The second prize of ₹6,000 was awarded to Mr. Naresh Kumar and Mr. Atul Verma from IIT Bombay, while the third prize of ₹4,000 went to Mr. Harshvardhan and Ms. Shreya from Pondicherry University. The event concluded with the felicitation of the winners, who were awarded cash prizes and certificates.
