Workshop on Personal Branding
On July 28, 2025, IIIM hosted an insightful and energizing workshop on Personal Branding, led by its distinguished alumna Ms. Priyadarshini Soni, Founder and CEO of Nine Degree. Drawing from her remarkable journey as an entrepreneur and brand strategist, Ms. Soni engaged students with a provocative opening: “Have you ever Googled yourself or ChatGPT’d yourself?” Her question set the tone for a session that explored how personal branding today is no longer optional—it’s essential.
Over the last decade, online search has become a defining force in shaping public perception. A simple query on any internet platform can instantly construct a digital image of who you are. Whether through strategic storytelling, a relatable personal brand, or insightful thought leadership—each approach demonstrates how carefully curated visibility shapes lasting influence.
Ms. Soni highlighted that personal branding is not about self-promotion, but about intentionally communicating your values, passions, and expertise in ways that resonate. She introduced a powerful four-step framework to help students shape their brand identity:
Define Your Brand Core – Understand who you are, what you stand for, and what sets you apart.
Package It with Purpose – Craft a consistent narrative and presence that aligns with your goals. Your point of view matters.
Publish to Build Trust – Be visible. Share value-driven content, insights, and experiences to build credibility.
Network with Intent – Foster strategic and genuine relationships that align with your personal and professional journey.
She emphasized that academic success is a starting point, not the destination: “Your degree will get you shortlisted, but your presence will get you remembered.” The message struck a chord with students, encouraging them to embrace authenticity both online and offline.
The workshop concluded with a compelling call to action: “Start small, but start strategically.” Ms. Soni left the audience with a powerful takeaway—one that ties the essence of personal branding in the digital era:
Be findable.
Be relatable.
Be you.
