Workshop - Financial Planning and Investments
IIM organised a workshop on “Financial Planning and Investments” under the Investor Awareness Program, which was addressed by Professor Asha Ram Tripathi from Banaras Hindu University. At the outset, Professor Tripathi recited a Sanskrit shloka to apprise students of the ideal characteristics a learner should possess, encouraging them to fulfill their duties with sincerity, care, and responsibility.
In his session, he beautifully connected finance with the four purusharthas of life—Dharma, Artha, Kama, and Moksha—emphasizing that financial wisdom is an integral part of a balanced and purposeful life. He cautioned the students about the dangers of falling into a “debt trap” and advised them to always maintain more assets than liabilities.
Professor Tripathi stressed the immense power of compounding and underlined the importance of higher savings, which need to be strategically invested in the right portfolio to build long-term wealth. He urged students not to “put all their eggs in one basket” and strongly recommended regular portfolio revision to ensure financial stability and growth.
The workshop, organised under the BSE Investor Awareness Program, left the participants with valuable insights into managing finances wisely and making informed investment decisions, while instilling in them the importance of discipline and responsibility in financial planning.
