Beyond the Post: The Art & Strategy of Social Media Storytelling
A close-group, hands-on workshop

What makes someone stop scrolling? A small group of students explored that question in an intensive workshop led by Mr Kartik Sharma, an independent marketing and project management consultant at MediaBrush LLP and an institute alumnus.

The first lesson was a mindset shift: every post is a brand decision. Students learned to treat each platform as a different stage with a different audience. Instagram rewards emotion, faces and speed, so Reels need a hook in the first two seconds, subtitles and one clear message. LinkedIn rewards credibility, so stories must be specific, verified and people-first.

Participants then practised turning one-off posts into recurring story series, building a monthly content calendar and mapping how a viewer moves from discovering content to making an enquiry. They also covered the responsibilities behind the screen: obtaining consent, checking facts, and replying to comments and DMs professionally.

The final takeaway was to measure what matters. Students learned to look past likes and track saves, shares, video retention and meaningful conversations.

The participants left with a practical toolkit and one guiding principle: real people, useful information and a clear call to action.
